Watermark at Trinity, an assisted living and memory care community owned and operated by Watermark Retirement Communities (Tucson, Ariz.), wanted to offer residents a continuum of services where they can move in as an independent living resident with the safety and security of aging in place.
Enter The Town Center project at The Watermark at Trinity, a five-story, 117-unit independent living community in Trinity, Fla., now a part of the Trinity campus, together offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care.
The new $19.3 million Town Center community offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, and the campus features a porte-cochère entrance, private center courtyard with a swimming pool, a formal dining room with open hearth oven, full-service salon with massage room, a café, full gym, a nine-hole putting green, and covered parking.
Chancey Architecture (Tampa, Fla.) and Chancey Interior Design (Tampa) comprised the design team for the community’s assisted living and memory care community and also led the design on The Town Center project.
The design focus was led by two principles. First, to design a community-rich environment that inspires its residents to live fulfilled, active, and healthy lives. The team accomplished this through hospitality-inspired spaces including multiple dining spaces, each with its own theme, cocktail bar, gym, golf simulator, and art studio. All spaces are purposely located to attract and encourage the residents to come together in their shared community.
Second, the team’s focus was on operational efficiency including the placement of spaces for functional use by associates as well as ease-of-use for providing service to residents. For example, the café is located near the front desk, creating an easy and casual opportunity for residents and front desk associates to converse frequently. The building wraps around a central courtyard with glass doors providing abundant natural light and offering flowing access to enjoy the weather during outdoor programs and dining. An open hearth in the kitchen encourages conversations between the chef and residents.
