Taste Of Success: Meet The 2026 EFA Dining Competition Winners

The 2026 EFA Dining Competition awardees demonstrate strategies focused on supporting resident engagement, fostering choice, and integrating indoor and outdoor settings.

Now in its 4th year, Environments for Aging’s Dining Competition winners demonstrate how operators and designers are redefining what a dining venue can achieve across the full continuum of resident care.

At LiveWell in Plantsville, Conn., the Platinum award-winning Resilient Living Center integrates participatory cooking into its spatial programming, challenging the idea that cognitive decline limits meaningful engagement.

In San Ramon, Calif., Belmont Village Senior Living San Ramon’s Gold award-winning project blurs the boundary between interior and exterior, drawing California’s natural landscape into the dining experience as a deliberate design element.

In Gaithersburg, Md., the Silver award-winning Carnegie at Washingtonian Center takes a multivenue approach, offering three distinct dining environments within a single open, barrier-free layout.

Collectively, these projects signal an evolving design conversation around resident agency, contextual responsiveness, and dining environments that actively support resident well-being.

Read more on each project at the links below. The winners are also celebrated in a special EFA Dining Competition supplement here, featuring a Q+A with the Platinum-award project team, profiles of the top winning projects, and a gallery of all submitted projects to the program.

Cheers to this year’s winners!
