Autumn Leaves of Towne Lake is the only freestanding memory care community in Woodstock, Ga. At 28,000 square feet, the $9.8 million community provides specialized care to nearly 50 residents living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and memory impairment. The LaSalle Group designed, developed, built, owns, and manages the community.
The design of Autumn Leaves of Towne Lake was based on recent Alzheimer’s research, and every aspect of the community – from the layout to the interior design and furnishings – was created to cater to residents who are experiencing memory loss. The color scheme creates a visual contrast between walls and floors to help residents differentiate space and reduce confusion. Natural light from windows and specially researched light bulbs establish spatial boundaries, stimulate cognitive thinking patterns, and maintain residents’ circadian rhythms to reduce nighttime wandering.
Construction of Autumn Leaves of Towne Lake was completed on April 21. The community anticipates welcoming its first resident in July. The LaSalle Group has two other communities in the area: Autumn Leaves of Sugarloaf in Gwinnett County, which opened in 2013, and Autumn Leaves of Stockbridge, which is scheduled to open this summer in Henry County.
