With the increasing growth in Oklahoma City and surrounding neighborhoods, HarborChase of South Oklahoma City wanted to offer a luxury hospitality-enriched assisted living and memory care community to compete with the more dated options in the surrounding market. Opening in March, the new 107,000-square-foot location features 112 units including 80 assisted living and 30 memory care with a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom floor plans.

Interior design firm Aneka Interiors (Denver) created a design with a bold yet comfortable and inviting color palette of bright teals and warm purples with the occasional pop of yellow. Having a consistent color palette throughout the community, while varying the combinations and application, allows each amenity space to have its own identity while still feeling cohesive. High ceilings throughout the community fill the spaces with bright, natural light. Five different dining experiences, including a sports bar and bistro, private dining adjacent to the exhibition pizza kitchen, and an elegant formal dining room, contribute to the hospitality feel.

Improving resident engagement was also a priority, with the new community offering two art rooms, three living rooms, an activity/game space and club room with shuffleboard and card table, multiple conversation nooks, a fitness suite, full-service salon, and a large community/multipurpose room.

Due to the community’s location in tornado alley, the project team designed the 2,648-square-foot multipurpose room to also flex as a storm shelter.
