MorningStar at Observatory Park, Denver

MorningStar at Observatory Park is a 5-story senior living community that opened in summer 2023 in Denver.

The 92,000-square-foot project, designed by architecture firm Hord Coplan Macht (Denver) and interior design firm Thoma-Holec Design (Mesa, Ariz.) takes design cues from the surrounding neighborhoods and the University of Denver campus to fit within its historical context.

Specifically, the project team utilized materials that are respectful and complementary of the surroundings such as brick, metal panels, and siding, which reflect the patios and covered porches in adjacent residential and campus architecture.

The entry sequence matches trends in urban hospitality settings with visitors entering via a covered auto court, which is located under the building and allows access to the underground parking below as well as convenient drop off for residents.

The community is located to offer residents close proximity to community restaurants and businesses such as banks and pharmacies, public transportation, and the nearby University of Denver.
