Aegis Living Bellevue Overlake, an assisted living and memory care community in Bellevue, Wash., opening in spring of 2021, centers on the scientific benefits of biophilia, humans’ innate connection to nature. The building design aims to create a sense of peace, tranquility, and home to residents by incorporating the Pacific Northwest’s natural surroundings, from the calming sounds of water to lush greenery. The 106,000-square-foot building, including 122 resident apartments, marries the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest with luxury and elegance. It is also intended to be a center of wellness and rejuvenation for residents.
Plant-lined walls, fresh water and fountains, lush greens, and natural stone create a sense of being outdoors while being inside. Residents can be safely connected to the outdoors through a sun-filled conservatory, expansive courtyard, and sky lounge overlooking the city. In addition to its integration with nature, the community infuses the latest infection control technological advancements including air purification systems that can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and promote an overall healthier environment.
The building offers vast common spaces in one central location to bring people together while allowing them to be safely distanced. This includes four dining areas along with a garden lounge, theater, and activity spaces all on the main floor and surrounding the open courtyard. Residents can enjoy activities that encourage a mind and body connection, such as tai chi, yoga, massage, and meditation. The community also features such amenities as a saltwater pool, juice bar, and wellness center.
