Live Together (Baltimore), a not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to help providers and developers create person-centered living communities, has introduced an intergenerational living model to create an inclusive community and improve and change the status quo of segregating older adults, families, and children from society.

Conceived by founder Jane Rohde and developed by a group of experts, the residential model provides opportunities to bring supportive residential care solutions to the forefront.

Sites for a Live Together community can vary, from a community collocated with an existing children’s home or student housing to existing urban or rural redevelopment areas or integrated with existing senior living communities.

The community model can integrate different types of independent living for seniors, families, students, and youth aging out of the social services system with standard one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment styles. The household model designs for communal living can offer private sleeping spaces, socialization, and higher level of safe-care continuity, while increasing affordability for all ages. Assisted living, memory care, and home healthcare can be planned as part of the community, too.

Additionally, an engagement center for residents, families, and staff can provide a place for the community to interact or provide space for workforce development, training and education, research, and development of technology skills.
