Lyngblomsten at Lino Lakes, St. Paul, Minnesota
Lyngblomsten has been providing senior living on its campus in St. Paul’s Como Park neighborhood for more than 100 years. Building on that tradition, the nonprofit developed a second continuum-of-care campus during a multiyear planning process.
With design led by architectural and engineering firm Wold Architects & Engineers (St. Paul), the 134,000-square-foot community is situated on 16 acres. Residential spaces include 20 detached rental townhomes and a multilevel senior living building with 96 independent living apartments, 36 assisted living apartments, 17 memory care suites.
Amenities comprise a wellness center with warm water pool, a game room, and a salon. A second phase of the project will add a skilled nursing community.
Norwegian-inspired design features
Paying tribute to the 11 Norwegian women who started Lyngblomsten more than 100 years ago, the project team composed the interior and exterior environments on three tenets of Nordic design: minimalist simplicity, clean lines, and integration of nature.
Specifically, the exterior has a simple massing with siding in cool tones and warm wood accents.
Featured interior spaces include a wood chapel, soft lighting, and cozy fireplaces that create the warmth and comfort of a Nordic environment.
The community also houses a dog wash station, dog park, golf simulator, wood shop, heated underground parking for residents, and a walking trail to promote an active lifestyle for residents and staff.
