Smith Senior Living recently broke ground for an additional $24 million short-term stay rehabilitation wing in Orland Park, Ill., at Smith Crossing.
The two-story, 45,222 square-foot building will be connected with a passageway to the west side of the main building on Smith Crossing’s 32-acre campus. This second expansion increases the total square footage of the community’s main building to almost 506,000 square-feet of residences and common areas.
The new wing will house 46 private suites for adults needing short-term stay rehab services as well as common areas including a rehab gym; private treatment and therapy rooms; offices; and a dining room for rehab patients and visitors.
A Certificate of Need has been approved by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board and site preparation started in August. The project is expected to be ready for occupancy in early 2020.
The project partners include Weis Construction (general contractor), Kimley-Horn (civil engineer), and BBVA/Compass Bank.
