Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA) held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Arkansas State Veterans Home at North Little Rock.
Located on a new 31-acre campus on Fort Logan H. Roots in Little Rock, Ark., the ADVA’s Community Living Centers (CLCs) are built to provide aging veterans with long-term care, including skilled nursing care, dementia care, and rehabilitation services.
Each of the eight CLCs was built using the small house model of care and is fitted with 12 private bedrooms and adjoining private bathrooms. Two rooms in each household are able to accommodate double occupancy when needed.
The 10,000-square-foot homes features universally accessible common areas, including a living room, study, dining room, kitchen, den, and front and back porches.
The campus also includes a new community building for large events, performances, classes, and other community activities for residents and staff.
Perkins Eastman (Chicago) provided architecture, planning, and interior design services and Polk Stanley Wilcox (Little Rock, Ark.) was the architect of record on the project, which broke ground in July 2015.
