Corso Atlanta, Atlanta: 2023 EFA Design Showcase Honorable Mention
Corso Atlanta adds a luxury, resort-style option to Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood, offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care. But what makes the $92 million community truly unique is its European inspiration, designed to bring the streets of Paris to its American residents.
For example, Corso’s residential towers wrap the site and are divided into smaller blocks of individual buildings with enclosed internal courtyards. Meanwhile, Paris’ bustling city life is captured in outdoor bistro-style dining venues and street-side retail.
Architecturally, the community features awnings, balconies, ironwork, and even a clock tower. Inside are cast-stone fireplaces, hardwood flooring throughout, and a 15-foot-long sculptural wall reminiscent of France’s Seine River.
Completed in October 2021 and submitted to the Design Showcase by Galerie Living Atlanta, Corso’s 335,000 square feet wowed jurors aesthetically but also through some thoughtful approaches to the resident experience.
Adaptive care model
Those include an adaptive care model that allows residents to add supportive services within their units to permit aging in place as well as amenity spaces that engage residents (a community flower shop was a favorite, as was the elaborately designed teahouse) and encourage intergenerational activities, too.
