Eden Housing (Hayward, Calif.) has opened Timber Senior Apartments, a new affordable senior living community in Newark, Calif., according to sfyimby.com.
Situated on a nearly 1-acre site, the 5-story community comprises 79 one-bedroom units for independent living. Twenty units are designated for residents who have experienced homelessness or chronic health conditions.
The community features a podium-top outdoor courtyard with 63 resident garden plots and a noise barrier to mitigate sound from the adjacent highway. Additional amenities include a computer learning center, exercise room, and bicycle storage.
Van Meter Williams Pollack (VMWP; San Francisco) served as architect on the project.
