Delos (New York), a provider of science-backed solutions for healthier indoor spaces, has launched the WISE (Wellness Innovation in Senior Environments) initiative that combines healthy building expertise with insights from the senior living industry to focus on scientific research, education initiatives, and solutions for senior living communities.
The WISE initiative expands upon a research partnership in late 2021 with investment management firm Harrison Street (Chicago). The first of several in-field studies with Harrison Street will initially investigate circadian lighting and how it can improve health and cognitive function of older adults in senior living communities.
Additionally, the program will work with healthcare real estate investment trust Sabra (Irvine, Calif.) to investigate improving indoor air quality at skilled nursing facility using portable air filtration. A second phase aims to examine how building improvements may reduce employee stress and burnout and potentially lower incidence of resident falls while improving cognitive health.
Collaborators will participate in research conducted by the Well Living Lab (Rochester, Minn.), founded as a collaboration between Delos and Mayo Clinic (Rochester) and dedicated to studying the impact of indoor environments on human health and well-being.
