Seeing a lack of luxury senior living housing in the Louisville, Ky., market, the Dominion Group (Knoxville, Tenn.) identified the need for a high-end independent living community in the area. In response, the owner developed Everlan of Louisville, a 58,000-square-foot, two-story, 56-unit community that opened in August 2020.
Louisville is a vibrant city grounded in tradition, and the interior design team at Banko Design (Marietta, Ga.) was inspired by those unique attributes throughout the design. As a nod to the nearby Churchill Downs, an equestrian motif is showcased prominently throughout the property. Special design features include a playful horse graphic that runs along the balcony detail of the double-story main dining area, a braided leather wall in the game room, a bold plaid wall covering in the living room, and horse-shaped decorative lighting.
The color palette was inspired both by the rolling bluegrass hills and the rich dark bourbon Kentucky is proud to produce (evident in the leather seating and braided wall, as well). These color choices are punctuated by intentional design decisions including crisp white shiplap walls, selective black painted ceilings, marble veining on the chef’s table counter, and an elegant floor-to-ceiling brick hearth in the dining room.
Finally, the porte-cochère that greets residents and visitors is a dark-stained wood roof structure, constructed to be reminiscent of the ubiquitous bourbon barrels seen at local distilleries. The goal of this property was to feel modern and lavish but economically approachable to residents from the surrounding neighborhoods.
Amenities include fine and casual dining, bistro, salon, fitness room, game room, theater room, courtyard, and dog park.
