CA Senior Living, a Chicago-based real estate and senior housing company, wanted its new community to be in a prime location in an urban environment. The community, Atria Englewood, is situated in the heart of Englewood, Colo., directly adjacent to a commercial pharmacy and 400-bed acute care hospital and across the street from a short-term rehabilitation facility.
The six-story, 150,000-square-foot high rise, completed in January 2020, features 24 memory care units and 106 assisted living and independent living units that offer one and two bedrooms.
The contemporary-style interior includes vibrant colors and timeless accents such as era-themed artwork and accessories.
Open-plan amenity spaces allow for flexibility and can be easily navigated by residents. For example, the reception area is housed in a two-story lobby with diverse lounge spaces that offer good visibility to the outside for residents waiting for a ride or to meet others.
Resident kitchens in the independent living and assisted living units include senior-friendly features such as lower counter heights and a tight work triangle. Amenities include a fitness center, salon, movie theater, and pub with outdoor courtyard in the first-floor entry that serves coffee in the morning and transitions to beer and wine service in the evening.
The 18,000-square-foot memory care community houses an activity room and outdoor garden. Furniture and built-in elements help define the memory care space, while also allowing open sight lines for staff to monitor residents. A memory display with personal pictures and mementos is located outside each resident’s room to help them navigate their way back to their unit.
