Legacy at Falcon Point, an upscale assisted living and memory care community, opened in October 2014 with 83 apartments (63 for assisted living and 20 for memory care), operated by Thrive Senior Living (Atlanta) and developed by PinPoint (Houston).

Dean Maddalena, founder and president of StudioSix5, the Austin, Texas-based interior design firm on the project, says flexibility was an overriding theme in the approach. “We created another wing that can flex between assisted living and memory care, so it’s designed to adapt to what market conditions require,” he says.

The décor and textiles are inspired by the region and carried throughout the community to the different care levels to create a consistent environment. Blue and green accents are used in the common areas for their calming and soothing aesthetic, which helps reduce frustration and agitation among residents.

The firm combed through photography archives from the local historical society to pick images to hang in the community that residents would recognize to give a sense of familiarity for those in memory care. The photos were combined with current images for visiting grandchildren to relate to and create discussion points with their grandparents.
