Owner/developer National Development (Newton, Mass.) and operator Epoch Senior Living (Waltham, Mass.) wanted to offer a luxury independent living community to residents who wish to live locally in the Fairfield County area in a brand new property with high-end interior design and a multitude of services and social opportunities.

Located in Stamford on a wooded campus next to a conservation area, Waterstone on High Ridge offers convenient access to local retailers, restaurants, and cultural activities. The community features 146 residences including 88 independent living units with one- and one-bedroom-plus and two- and two-bedroom-plus options; 36 assisted living units with studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units; and 22 memory care units.

Influenced by the region’s rural roots, architecture and interior design firm Elkus, Manfredi Architects (Boston) chose a charming, modern farmhouse design for the 220,000-square-foot community. The common spaces feature painted wood plank ceilings with timber beams, a central fireplace with stone surround, antique-style rugs, artisan light fixtures, and a warm, comfortable color palette. The project’s design reflects the tastes of seniors in Fairfield County who love the ‘country’ lifestyle but also are looking for beautifully-designed, refined senior living accommodations.

The independent living units are graciously sized with high-end finishes as well as modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances, bathrooms with full shower and vanity, and spacious walk-in closets.

Amenities at Waterstone on High Ridge include an indoor heated pool, full-service salon and fitness center staffed with personal trainers, an on-site restaurant, movie theater, pet-friendly accommodations, natural walking trails, and underground reserved parking.
