Sustainable design firm Kaiser + Path (Portland, Ore.), a group of real estate developers, architects, and builders, has announced the grand opening of The Canyons, an affordable, non-age restricted independent living community for active adults and those with limited mobility, in Portland.

The six-story, 70-unit community offers a mix of studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom options. The ADA-compliant units have an open floor plan and high ceilings. Amenity spaces include a fitness center, wellness room, on-site concierge, social lounge, ground-floor café, and market.

Green construction features were utilized on the 110,000-square-foot project, such as cross-laminated timber, an engineered wood product that’s also seismic- and fire-resistant, and an open-air atrium that circulates outside air throughout the structure.

The project team includes Path Architecture (architect; Portland), Kaiser Group (developer; Portland), R&H Construction (general contractor; Portland), and Catena Consulting Engineers (structural engineer; Portland).
