St. Anthony’s Medical Center (St. Louis) plans to add 200 beds to its south St. Louis County campus in what would be the hospital’s largest expansion since 2008. The campus is already home to a hospice center, which has 20 beds.
The goal is to provide a continuum of care, meaning St. Anthony’s patients can receive a number of services from beginning to end of life all in one location, according to Dr. Christopher Bowe, president, St. Anthony’s Physician Organization.
Details of the cost of the project are still being worked out. Neither an architect nor a contractor has been chosen. Before construction can begin, St. Anthony’s will also need to receive approval from the Missouri Health Facilities Review.
