Springpoint Senior Living has received funding from the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency to move forward with rental housing in Ocean County, N.J., for older adults who were impacted by Superstorm Sandy.

The funds, along with low-income housing tax credit equity and funds to be provided by the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery program for Sandy recovery, will be used to repurpose a building on Springpoint's Crestwood Manor continuing care retirement community campus for affordable rental housing called Heritage at Whiting.

Managed and operated by Springpoint Senior Living, Heritage at Whiting offers private one- and two-bedroom apartments with features such as kitchens with full-size stainless steel appliances, modern bathrooms with walk-in showers, and spacious walk-in closets. The building has its own private entrance and parking lot.

Construction of the building is expected to be completed by fall and the first residents are expected to move in by October 2016.
