A post-occupancy evaluation site for the research program led by the Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE) and sponsored by J+J Flooring Group has been chosen.

The Cottage at Cypress Cove, a newly constructed assisted living memory care neighborhood on the Fort Myers, Fla. continuing care retirement community of Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida campus, will be the first location in the United States for this new program.

The POE project seeks to improve senior living design. Evaluation of The Cottage’s four-household memory care model will identify which design aspects deliver the best resident outcomes and what new insights can be gleaned from areas that need improvement.

SAGE selected The Cottage at Cypress Cove based on the community’s design submission for the 2017 Environments for Aging Design Showcase.

The descriptions of project goals and objectives in the submission will be cross-referenced with the SAGE Principles and used as the basis for evaluation to document design outcomes and user experiences.
