Plantation Estates retirement community (Matthews, N.C.), owned by ACTS Retirement-Life Communities (West Point, Pa.), is embarking on a $138 million expansion project.
The plans include the addition of 216 units in several buildings for independent living, underground parking, and 40 one-story villas with two-car garages. Villas will feature two bedrooms with a den and two bathrooms.
The community will have new formal and casual dining venues, a fitness center, an assisted living residence with 80 suites, and a new skilled-care center with 100 private rooms will also be offered.
Construction will start in spring 2015.
