Maplewood Senior Living announced today that it has closed on a 27-acre parcel of land in Southport, Conn., where it will build Maplewood at Southport, a three-story, 98 unit assisted living and memory care community. Site preparations will begin immediately with the intention to begin construction this summer.

The property for Maplewood at Southport overlooks the scenic Sherwood Mill Pond and is nestled in the convenient Mill Hill neighborhood. The 92,000-square-foot senior living community will evoke the tradition of the rambling Adirondack and coastal New England style resort hotels of the early 20th century.

Maplewood’s common areas with fireplaces, libraries, coffered lobbies, a timbered great room, gourmet display kitchens, and salon and spa are highlighted amenities.  Terraced gardens overlooking the five-acre pond will be the focal point. The developer will also be incorporating new, public sidewalks along the perimeter of the project as well as walking trails and seating areas in a 13-acre conservation area. Residents will enjoy stunning views of the 27-acre natural setting filled with a variety of wildlife, mature trees, flowering plants and meadows.

Stein-Troost is the architect; LANDTECH is the civil engineer; Milone & MacBroom is the landscape architect; and KBE Building Corporation is the contractor for the project.
