Harbour’s Edge senior living community in Delray Beach, Fla., broke ground on a $20 million renovation project, which will include building a new Lifelong Learning Center, adding a second dining venue, remodeling the main restaurant, and upgrading the fitness center, wellness areas, and the interior design of the main common area.

The learning center renovation will bring a new media center, library, and performing arts center.

The project is the second phase of the senior living community’s master plan. The first phase was completed in 2013 and included upgrading the community’s Health Center, which includes skilled nursing and short- and long-term rehabilitation services. The $5 million project focused on expanding the physical and occupational therapy room, kitchen, and dining room.

Harbour’s Edge, owned and operated by LifeSpace Communities in Des Moines, Iowa, has 266 independent living apartment homes, as well as a continuum of healthcare services.

Cleveland, Ohio-based CC Hodgson Architecture group has been selected as the designer for the project and New York-based Plaza Construction as the contractor.

The project is scheduled to be complete by December 2016.
