The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (St. Petersburg, Fla.) is planning to convert a former hospital into an affordable senior living community in the North Kenwood neighborhood of St. Petersburg, according to stpeterising.com.
The 6-story former Edward White Hospital, built in 1974 and closed in 2014, will house 71 units, with healthcare provider Evara Health (Clearwater, Fla.) occupying the ground floor.
Evara Health will open a 2,000-square-foot clinic in the building that is open to the public, providing preventative care, chronic disease management, same-day visits, and geriatric services.
The first floor of the building will also house a lobby, open dining hall, catering kitchen, mail room, and bike storage. Additional amenities for residents will include a community room, computer lab, and fitness center.
The project team includes architecture and design firm Wannemacher Jensen Architects and general contractor Lema Construction, both based in St. Petersburg.
The project is expected to begin construction this summer and be completed in the fall of 2026.
