Construction To Begin On New Senior Living Residences

Openhouse and Mercy Housing California have partnered for a new affordable housing project which will include 119 aprtments for LGBT seniors in the community.

In the first phase, renovations will begin on Richardson Hall, on the former U.C. Berkeley extension campus. The work is expected to take 15 months to complete and doors will open to residents summer or fall 2016.

The second phase of work, slated to start in late 2016, will see the construction of a new building next to the former Richardson Hall and it will open in fall 2018.

The project team includes Van Meter Williams Pollack – architect; and James E. Roberts – Obayashi Corp. – general contractor.
