The Communities of Wildwood Ranch nursing home (Joplin, Mo.) has opened and is celebrating a milestone in Joplin’s recovery from the tornado on May 22, 2011, when 300 nursing home beds and 16 lives were lost.
The $8.5 million nursing center eventually will be home to 120 people. The new nursing home has more spacious areas for physical therapy, including a heated therapy pool, and more room for small group dining.
Also destroyed in the tornado was the Greenbriar Nursing Home (plans call for it to be renamed Southgate) which will also be reconstructed. LTC Consulting Group (Sikeston, Mo.) will manage both properties.
The new design and creation of The Communities of Wildwood Ranch will allow for multiple care concepts for residents it serves. Focus will be on rehabilitation and memory care as well as long term care services for the critically ill.
