After a delay of about a year, United Properties (Bloomington, Minn.) is again ready to move its Cherrywood Pointe (Forest Lake, Minn.) project forward. The Forest Lake City Council on March 24 approved a planned unit development and site plan amendment for Cherrywood Pointe. The amendment was necessitated by changes to the building’s design following the discovery that the structure will require the use of piers rather than a traditional footing.
With the redesign, the number of apartment units rose from 92 to 96, while the number of parking spaces fell from 111 to 95. Construction is expected to take approximately 11 months.
Part of the parking will be underground, and a salon will operate in the first floor. Common areas will include dining and activity areas, a bistro, an exercise room and outdoor walking paths along gardens and water features.
The facility will be managed by Ebenezer, a division of Fairview Health Services. Cherrywood Pointe will offer bus transit for its residents. Kaas Wilson is the architect.
