Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center, a provider of post-hospital rehabilitation and nursing care, has broken ground on a renovation and new construction project at its Fairfield, Conn., community.
The project will include the addition of 22 private patient rooms for a total of 48 private rooms in the center, which can accommodate up to 160 short-term rehabilitation patients and long-term care residents.
New lighting, resident and patient room fixtures, and furniture are also slated for the project and the therapy gymnasium will also be expanded to accommodate a new occupational therapy kitchen.
The work is being divided into several phases, with the final phase expected to be completed in 2016.
The project team includes Carlin Construction (New London, Conn.) and design firm MBH Architecture (West Hartford, Conn.).
Cambridge Center is managed by National HealthCare Associates (Wethersfield, Conn.).
