Brookdale Senior Living (Brentwood, Tenn.) is expected to start construction at Chatfield in West Hartford, Conn., to bring new features and broaden services including dementia and Alzheimer's care as well as assisted living. Currently Chatfield offers independent living.
The project, wich is expected to be complete in early 2016 , will see the construction of a three-story building with 50 assisted living apartments connected to a new single-story, secured building offering secured and specialized care for up to 34 residents with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
The assisted living and Alzheimer’s programs will feature separate dining areas, with an adjacent café. Both will include numerous other amenities, such as spa and salon areas, activity and living rooms, an assisted living fitness area and a secured outdoor courtyard for dementia care residents. Assisted living and dementia care residents will also benefit from multiple recreational, social, and enrichment opportunities.
The new building will also be connected to Chatfield’s current independent living community, which will receive a number of upgrades and renovations as part of the project, including the creation of a bistro.
Brookdale is undertaking this project together with its financial partner, Ventas Inc. The architect is Perspectus Architecture.
