Adirondack Health will receive more than $1.4 million in state funding for long-term care through the Vital Access/Safety Net Provider Program. This round of funding brings the program’s total to $157 million.

In 2012, Adirondack Health proposed that services offered at Adirondack Medical Center’s Lake Placid hospital be consolidated at Uihlein. The plan also included, according to the Adirondack Health release, “the right-sizing of long-term-care beds, a medical fitness center, and supportive living services, such as short-term rehabilitation and assisted living.”

The Lake Placid hospital remains open at this time and changes at the Uihlein facility are still in preliminary stages.
