The 128-unit community in Bolingbrook, Ill., features a traditional architectural style with a focus on community gathering spaces.

Opening this past January, Atria at River Trail, a project developed by CA Ventures (Chicago), provides assisted living and memory support for seniors in the suburban market of Bolingbrook, Ill.

Design firm Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) developed a flexible kit of parts for the project as well as for subsequent locations to ensure design integrity, high technical quality, and consistency across communities.

Set on a 5.78-acre site, the 128-unit community houses 86 units for assisted living residents and 42 for memory care. The two-story community features a traditional architectural style with large community areas located at the heart of the building and smaller gathering areas spread throughout the community.

Connection to nature had a big influence on the programming, scale of the community, and materials selection with natural daylighting incorporated throughout the interiors while outdoor spaces are made available and accessible, including access to activities at the nearby commercial downtown Bolingbrook and the DuPage River bank and trail system.
