The North Carolina Division of Health and Human Services has approved a Certificate of Need (CON) requested by Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community (Winston-Salem, N.C.) that will add 18 skilled nursing beds to Fitzgerald, the community’s healthcare center, and four assisted living beds in Asbury Place, the assisted living facility.
Upon completion of the renovations in 2016, Arbor Acres will have 83 licensed skilled nursing beds and 106 beds to accommodate residents needing assisted living, including 30 rooms devoted exclusively to memory care.
The public areas of the 30-year-old Fitzgerald structure will be reconfigured to create more open space and plans call for creation of large interior gardens and water features.
All resident rooms will have full private baths and the building will have new HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems to improve function and energy efficiency.
