Affordable housing developer McDowell Housing Partners (MHP; Miami) and Miami Jewish Health Foundation (Miami), a nonprofit senior living and healthcare services provider, are partnering on Ekos Pembroke Park in Pembroke, Fla., according to citybiz.com.
The partners held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on the 10-story affordable senior living community, which will house 150 one-bedroom units. Amenities include a clubroom and fitness center.
The community is being designed to achieve Silver certification under Florida’s U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and includes Energy Star-rated appliances, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and LED lighting.
The project team includes /REP|R|TWÄR/ (architect of record; Miami), JWR Construction (general contractor; Deerfield Beach, Fla.), and HSQ Group (civil engineer; Boca Raton, Fla.).
Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2027.
