Grand Street Development (Gardner, Kan.) is moving forward with plans to build an independent living senior community in Gardner after nixing a proposal that included an assisted living portion, according to the Johnson County Post.
The 44-acre project includes a total of 371 residential units for seniors in independent living, with 110 apartments, 87 villas, and 152 townhomes. On the southeastern corner of the site, the original plan proposed a building to house 90 assisted living apartments, but those have been replaced by 42 of the total 152 townhomes.
Separate from the senior housing component but on the same site, the project will include 76 single-family homes, providing an intergenerational aspect.
The project is expected to start construction this year and be completed by 2030.
