Watermark Laguna Niguel, Laguna Niguel, California
Nestled in the coastal city of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Watermark Laguna Niguel, an assisted living, and memory care community, opened in January 2024.
The new community reflects Watermark’s focus on luxury living spaces, person-centric care, and programming. In addition, Watermark Laguna Niguel aims to fill a gap in the area for memory care, with projections indicating a significant increase in memory care with an emphasis on personal care in the area by 2040.
Purpose-built spaces
With architecture by Shelter Architects (Pasadena, Calif.) and interior design by Ankrom Moisan (Portland, Ore.), the community houses 78 assisted living units and 32 memory care units.
The project reflects the indoor-outdoor elegance and casual style of Southern California coastal living, with welcoming spaces such as an outdoor courtyard, which hosts activities as well as place for residents to relax.
Inside, the 89,850-square-foot project’s layout creates spaces that seamlessly transition from elegant to home-style comfort, and are intentionally designed to encourage a human element, through environments that embrace connection and help foster interactions.
The formal dining venue, Seasons Restaurant, has an open, elegant décor and features world-class gourmet dining, while the casual and intimate Gallery Café features floor-to-ceiling windows with wide open views of the surrounding hills and community, creating a peaceful sense of expansiveness while the welcoming and cozy room with petite tables and nested chairs encourage connecting with people over coffee, mixing elements of going to a café outside while being in your home’s favorite nook.
Additional amenities include a full-service salon, 24/7 concierge services, fitness area, and private movie theater.
