With the growing number of adults age 65+ predicted to grow rapidly in the coming years, owner/operator Epoch Senior Living (Waltham, Mass.) and National Development (Newton Lower Falls, Mass.) began planning a 62+ independent living community designed to give residents in the region the option to remain close to friends and family.
In the heart of downtown White Plains, N.Y., a city just 30 miles outside Manhattan, the luxury, boutique hotel-style Waterstone of Westchester will be situated on 2.8 acres within walking distance of downtown shopping, cultural and social activities, and dining.
The six-story, 221,280-square-foot community will feature a contemporary design. The façade incorporates a mix of cladding materials including stone, metal panel, and wood-like siding. There are also a number of private balconies throughout. Should residents grow to require a higher level of care, there is access to on-site supportive services through a partnership with Visiting Nurse Services Westchester (White Plains).

Architecture and interior design firm Elkus Manfredi Architects (Boston) designed units with a clean and open design to include designer kitchens with stainless steel appliances, well-appointed bathrooms with walk-in showers, individually controlled heating and cooling systems, spacious walk-in closets, and a stackable in-unit washer/dryer.
Slated to open in January 2022, the 132-unit community will also include an indoor heated pool, staffed fitness center, common areas, a movie theater, lobby bar with private wine lockers, art studio, a full-service salon, and outdoor terrace with bar and dining area.
