Montgomery Senior Living LLC (Chicago) wanted to create an environment central to the Village of Oswego (Ill.) to offer both current and future community members a chance to age in place with varying styles of housing and levels of care while maintaining Oswego’s identity.
Located a short walk over the Fox River from Oswego, Ill.’s historic downtown, 142-unit Oswego Village Senior Living opening in fall 2022, will share a picturesque site with the local village hall.
The three-story main building will bookend the north side of the village green opposite the village hall’s clock tower and focus activity around this public amenity. Just south of the main entry and patio, a public fountain with a gazebo and trellis walkway will extend the building’s amenities to attract residents to enjoy the beautiful setting. Additionally, a winding path connecting a pond, pavilion, patios, and independent living cottages make this community a true extension of the Village of Oswego.
Inside the main 78,000-square-foot building, residents and visitors will be welcomed with a warm color palette, reinforced by art, furniture, and accessories, like old drag-racing photos that pay tribute to the unique history of Oswego. Reclaimed wood beams and accents are a nod to the community’s family-farm roots, as well.
Focused on health and wellness, amenity spaces are flooded with natural light and will be designed to expand and contract to accommodate multiple functions throughout the day. Barn doors separate dining, pub, and library spaces to accommodate small groups or larger gatherings. Wellness spaces, activity rooms, dining functions, patios, gardens, and the lobby are all located near one another to create an active environment, allowing the staff to be available for residents and function efficiently.
