Aegis Living San Rafael, San Rafael, California
The Aegis Living San Rafael luxury community in San Rafael, Calif., is nestled within the vibrant landscape of Marin County, Calif.
The new community, designed by Ankrom Moisan (Portland, Ore.), the architect on the project, and Aegis Living (Bellevue, Wash.), which handled the interior design, showcases California Mission Revival architecture including distinctive arched doorways and windows that honor the architectural heritage of Spanish colonial missions in California.
Scheduled to open in August, the 112,294-square-foot community houses 95 units, with 57 assisted living apartments and 38 apartments on the memory care floor called Life’s Neighborhood. The building provides studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom models.
Interior design prioritizes Spanish-style design
Inviting interior spaces feature Spanish-style furnishings such as leather chairs with nail-head trim, wrought iron tables with glass tops, and woven rattan pieces and artwork crafted by local artisans, including vibrant landscape paintings of Marin County vistas.
Specific design features include exposed wooden ceiling beams in the main living room, arched doorways throughout common areas, decorative wrought iron railings on staircases and balconies, and custom-designed lighting reminiscent of mission lanterns.
The grounds offer serene garden spaces and stunning vistas from the fifth-floor terrace.
