Developer First Ward Action Council (Binghamton, N.Y.) opened Vestal Chateau, an affordable intergenerational community, in Vestal, N.Y.
The project comprises a 24-unit building for seniors age 55 and older and a six-unit townhouse for individuals and families, according to a news release from the office of New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Units include one- and two-bedroom models, with seven designed for mobility-impaired individuals and two for residents with hearing and vision impairments.
Vestal Chateau is designed to comply with New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) Tier 3 standards for sustainable new construction.
Design features include high-performance insulation, air source heat pumps, and Energy Star-rated appliances and light fixtures.
