Austin, Texas-based Sparrow Partners has started construction on the 193-unit Mera City Center in downtown Surprise, Ariz., the first of four aged 55-and-older active adult communities that it plans to develop in the Phoenix metro area.
In March, Sparrow plans to begin construction on its second Phoenix-area development, the 188-unit Mera Goodyear community in the southwest suburb of Goodyear, Ariz.
The one-and-two-bedroom apartments in both communities will range in size from approximately 660 to 1,450 square feet. Resort-style amenities will include a pool and sundeck, fenced-in dog park, fitness center, game lounge, media lounge, golf simulator, library and two-story clubhouse, as well as Bocce and Pickleball courts.
Both communities are scheduled to open in spring 2021 and will be the first active adult communities in their respective cities. Project team members for both Mera City Center and Mera Goodyear include: Fugleberg Koch (architect), Kimley-Horn (engineer), Norris Design (landscaping), Integrity Structural (structural), and Joseph Lawrence & Co. Consulting Engineers (MEP).
Sparrow plans to begin construction on two more Central Arizona communities by the end of the year. The company will build and own Mera City Center and Mera Goodyear while its subsidiary Sparrow Living will manage the properties.
