Redmond Senior & Community Center is being planned in Redmond, Wash. The 52,000-square-foot center will include a lounge, library, multipurpose community rooms, commercial kitchen, fitness facilities, classrooms for art and music, coffee bar, and kid zone.

The center will be on the site of the former Senior Center on City Hall municipal campus.

The building will utilize sustainable design features including eco-friendly building materials and energy-efficient mechanical, plumbing, electrical systems and appliances. A rooftop solar panel will provide more than 50 percent of the energy needed to operate the building.

Nonprofit senior housing and services organization Emerald Communities’ Emerald Heights continuing care retirement community in Redmond is helping fund the project with a $100,000 donation.
