The Briarwood Community, a 52-acre senior living center in Worcester, Mass., has completed a $23-million expansion, adding 24 apartments. According to a report in the Worcester Business Journal (WBJ), the new independent-living apartments bring the complex’s total to 88, along with 105 cottages and 24 assisted-living apartments.

According to a WBJ reporter: “The expansion, which began in August 2018, adds a new memory-care neighborhood and cafe, and includes renovations to the main dining room. The expansion was aided by a tax-exempt bond of nearly $18 million from MassDevelopment, the state’s finance and development agency issuing the bond. Those new units will join 169 independent living apartments and cottages, 24 assisted-living apartments, and an 82-bed skilled nursing center.
