Nonprofit The Opportunity Council (Bellingham, Wash.) plans to open Laurel Forest, an affordable senior living community development, in Bellingham, this spring, according to the website cascadiadaily.com.
The community will include 56 one-bedroom units, six of which will be designated as permanent housing for people exiting homelessness through the nonprofit’s coordinated entry process. An outdoor courtyard and multipurpose room with a kitchenette, dining area, and computer stations are also planned.
The Opportunity Council will co-locate a childcare center with Laurel Forest to promote intergenerational volunteer opportunities for senior residents.
