The 2025 U.S. Senior Living Satisfaction Study released by J.D. Power (Troy, Mich.) finds increasing satisfaction among senior living community residents and their families.

Specifically, the report states that overall satisfaction with assisted living and memory care communities is up 12 points (on a 1,000-point scale) to 867 between 2024 and 2025, while the same score for independent living communities is up 25 points to 753.

The score for quality of care in assisted living and memory care reached a record high of 8.89 points on a 10-point scale in 2025.

The higher scores for assisted living and memory care are driven by improvements in satisfaction with dining (up 11 points), resident activities (up 8 points), and residential units (up 7 points), according to the J.D. Power study.

Meanwhile, in independent living, the report notes that value is the driving force, with residents scoring “price paid for services” 28 points higher than last year. Additionally, satisfaction with community staff is up 25 points and with community buildings and grounds is up 21 points.
