Heron’s Key CCRC To Begin Expansion In Gig Harbor, Washington

The $110 million project is expected to break ground this summer and be completed by 2028.

Nonprofit developer and property manager Emerald Communities (Redmond, Wash.) is planning a $110 million expansion of Heron’s Key continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Gig Harbor, Wash., according to The News Tribune.

The project will increase independent living capacity by nearly 30 percent, adding 54 units in a new 4-story building and six new cottage-style units. One- and two-bedroom floor plans will range from 798 to 1,902 square feet, while the cottages will be approximately 1,800 square feet each.

Amenity spaces will also be upgraded with and an expanded dining room, fitness center, and art studio, as well as a new pool and hot tub. A new grab-and-go dining venue will also be added.

The new units and amenities are estimated to add 111,000 square feet to the community.

Phased construction is anticipated to begin this summer and be completed by 2028.
