A hospice facility in Westminster, Md., is seeking state approval for a $1.8 million expansion project. According to an article in the Baltimore Business Journal, Carroll Hospice recently filed a certificate of need with the Maryland Health Care Commission, detailing the planned expansion at its 292 Stoner Ave. “Dove House” location, and why it is necessary.
Reporter Morgan Eichensehr writes: “It is proposing to add six new beds to its facility, increasing its inpatient capacity from eight to 14 patients. Dove House, which has been in operation for 12 years, is the only inpatient hospice facility in Carroll County. It is a Medicare-certified affiliate of Carroll Hospital, and provides home and inpatient care to sick and especially terminally ill patients…The expansion project would take about 18 months to complete, pending the approval of the plans by the health care commission. Each of the six new private rooms would be about 330 square feet and would include private baths, balconies, additional seating and sleep sofas for visiting family.”
