Affordable Senior Housing Project Planned For Illinois

A former elementary school will be turned into a 68-unit community.

Real estate developer General Capital Group (Fox Pointe, Wis.) and property manager Oakbrook Corporation (Madison, Wis.) are transforming a former school into an affordable senior housing community in Johnsburg, Ill., according to an article in Connect Chicago.

The 68-unit community is being planned at the former James C. Bush Elementary School. The administration and gym areas of the existing one-story school will be renovated into 14 apartments, resident support facilities, and office space. A three-story wing housing 54 one- and two-bedroom units will be added.

The project team includes Hooker DeJong Architects (architect; Chicago) and Joseph J. Duffy (general contractor; Chicago).
