Developer 2Life Communities (Brighton, Mass.) held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on the Solimine House affordable senior living community in Lynn, Mass., according to a news release.
The 55+ community is being developed on the former site of Union Hospital, adjacent to Mass General Brigham Medical Center, and will connect to a newly constructed Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Center operated by Element Care (Lynn, Mass.).
Solimine House will comprise 150 residential units in three interconnected households arranged around a central courtyard, which will connect to public green space, walking paths, and seating areas.
Flexible amenity spaces for fitness and wellness activities, arts and culture programs, and communal meals and events are also planned.
The project team includes MASS Design Group (architect; Boston), Stantec (civil engineer and landscape architect; Boston), and Dellbrook | JKS (general contractor; Quincy, Mass.).
Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2027.
