The Environments For Aging Conference + Expo will host a community tour on Saturday, April 26, 1-5 p.m., to The Homeplace at Midway, a Green House Residence, in Midway, Ky.
Owned by Christian Care Communities (Louisville, Ky.), the continuing care retirement community represents the state’s first Green House Project community.
The tour program will include an overview of the architectural and interior design components of the Green House/small house model as well as details on the operational and staffing programs in use, shared by Mary Lynn Spalding, president and CEO of Christian Care Communities, and Susan Ryan, president and CEO of Center for Innovation (Grand Forks, N.D.).
Following the introduction, Architect Rob Simonetti, senior living studio leader at LaBella Associates (Rochester, N.Y.), will lead a 30-minute tour of the community, followed by a panel discussion of individuals who work in the Green House.
The tour and presentation will serve as a primer for an educational session held at the EFA Conference + Expo, “Solving the Skilled Nursing Dilemma: Right-Sizing, Not Exiting,” on Tuesday, April 29. The session will focus on implementing cultural transformation within existing skilled nursing centers by incorporating the Green House core design values. For more, visit environmentsforaging.com.
